What is mild persistent asthma?

In mild persistent asthma symptoms are mild but occurred more than twice a week but less than once a day, in night symptoms occur three to four times a month but less than one week. lung function is 80% of normal when not having an attack.

In this asthma occur not yet daily factor but it persistent. you may be taking medicine to prevent asthma attacks.


Symptoms:
  • Chest tightness, pain, pressure
  • Mucus buildup in airways
  • Shortness of breath
  •  Whistling when you breath (whizzing)
  • Coughing
Night symptoms:

In nighttime symptoms occur more than one a time a week, do not occur every day.

Nighttime symptoms are an important factor for doctors to classify the stage of asthma you have.

Flare-ups:


In flare-ups, you may not able to do your normal activities.
You will tire more easily because your lungs are not getting as much oxygen as they need when you are experiencing an asthma flare.

  • FEV1 breathing test: In these people who have mild persistent asthma their lung function of over 80 percent of predicted normal that predicted for lungs is not affected by any disease.
  • Spirometry test: In this test breathing machine (spirometer) uses to measure how much air you can exhale and how quickly you can force the air out after breathing. this test is useful for know parameter to estimate how narrow the airways are.
  • Peak flow test: In this test uses to know how fast your breathing air out.if the force is lower than a typical pick flow it means the lung can not work properly.
  • Frequency of symptoms
  • Frequency of nighttime awakening with asthma symptoms
  • How much asthma interference with daily activity
Treatment:

There are asthma medication oral pills, inhalers, and a nebulizer.

For mild persistent asthma include quick-relief medicine and long term control medicine which are taken every day to prevent an asthma attack.
